Stockport’s Redrock complex wins Carbuncle Cup
Stockport’s Redrock leisure complex has won the not-so-coveted 2018 Carbuncle Cup, awarded to the “UK’s worst new building” by BD Magazine.
It has been described kindly as a “missed opportunity” and unkindly as “a sad metaphor for our failing high streets”.
Why are we telling you this? Well, it was Hartbrights that manufactured and installed the large red “REDROCK STOCKPORT” signs that adorn the building.
While the signage itself has not come under fire (thankfully!), we do feel that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and while some people may be of the opinion that Redrock, designed by architects BDP, is an eyesore, surely some people think it looks pretty smart?
Let us know what YOU think of the building, pictured above, on Facebook. Alternatively, the Manchester Evening News is running a poll, why not go show your support (or disgust).
